The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has declared that the party is fully prepared to reclaim the Plateau State governorship seat in the 2027 general elections.

He made this bold statement while receiving former governor and current Senator representing Plateau South, Simon Bako Lalong, at the APC National Secretariat.

Yilwatda, who was the APC governorship candidate in 2023, said the party under his leadership will adopt new strategies and reposition itself for victory.

He noted that APC remains a strong force in the state and that the people are beginning to appreciate the reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the national level.

According to him, Plateau residents are now eager to see such positive developments replicated at the state level under an APC-led administration.

The APC chairman highlighted the party’s dominance in the Plateau State House of Assembly, where 22 out of 24 members belong to the APC, as a clear advantage ahead of 2027.

He assured Senator Lalong that the lawmakers will carry the party’s message to the grassroots and mobilize strong support to unseat the PDP government in the state.

Yilwatda also pointed to the recent defection of prominent PDP members into the APC as evidence that the people are dissatisfied with the current administration.

In his remarks, Senator Simon Lalong said the appointment of Prof. Yilwatda as APC National Chairman was a strategic decision by the party’s National Executive Council.

He said Yilwatda’s past experience as a Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC equips him with the knowledge and leadership needed to lead the APC to victory.

Lalong added that Plateau people are already identifying with the APC and will support the party’s return to power in the next election cycle.

The APC chairman’s confidence comes shortly after State Assembly members paid him a solidarity visit, where they publicly endorsed President Tinubu’s administration.

During the visit, the lawmakers also warned opposition parties to stay away from the state ahead of the 2027 elections, saying the APC has already gained the people’s trust.
