The Plateau State Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Samson Ishaku Bugama, hosted a high-level delegation from the European Union (EU), the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) to discuss a new initiative aimed at revolutionizing the state’s agricultural sector.
The meeting centered on the Agriculture Value Chain Enhancement (EU-VACE) Program, a major initiative designed to improve food security, increase agricultural productivity, and create sustainable employment opportunities for residents of Plateau State.
“This strategic collaboration holds immense potential for our agricultural sector,” Bugama stated. He emphasized that the program would target key areas such as reducing post-harvest losses, improving value chain efficiency, and providing local farmers with essential resources, training, and market access. These interventions are expected to boost food production, stimulate economic growth, and drive sustainable development across Plateau State’s rural communities.
Bugama also praised the efforts of the Plateau State Government, led by His Excellency Barr Caleb Mutfwang, for its commitment to building partnerships that foster innovation and resilience in agriculture. He expressed optimism about the partnership with the EU, BMZ, and GIZ, which he believes will unlock new opportunities for farmers, agripreneurs, and stakeholders across the agricultural value chain.
“This marks the beginning of an exciting journey toward a more prosperous and food-secure future for Plateau State,” Bugama concluded.
The initiative is expected to have a lasting impact on the state’s agricultural landscape, creating economic benefits and improving livelihoods for the local population.
