In a move to strengthen the management of tertiary institutions in Plateau State, His Excellency, Governor Barr. Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang, has approved the constitution of Governing Councils for key educational institutions in the state. This announcement was made through a statement signed by Arc. Samuel N. Jatau, Secretary to the State Government.
For Plateau State University, Bokkos, the newly appointed Governing Council will be chaired by Prof. William Barnabas Qurix, who assumes the role of Pro-Chancellor. Other members include Nde David Shikfu Paradang, Prof. Gloria Kakuri, Barr. Omar Shittien, Mr. Luka D. Gaji, Prof. Lohfa Bali Chirdan, and Dr. Nathaniel Mawash Kamoh.
At Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin Ladi, Prof. Hayward Mafwai has been appointed as the Chairman, with Hon. Jonathan Aminu, Mrs. Kachollom Biangten, Engr. Gyang Woshi, Rt. Hon. Shehu Yipmong, Hon. Godfrey Dung Gwom, Ph.D., and Hon. Yohanna Dukas serving as council members.
The College of Education, Gindiri, will be headed by Prof. Angela Miri as the Chairman, alongside members including Prof. Patricia Lar, Dr. Joel Zuhumben, Mrs. Florence Jambol, Brig. Gen. Samuel Atu Abok (Rtd), Barr. Sunday Panwal, and Hon. Gregory Nyelong.
Governor Mutfwang expressed confidence in the councils’ abilities to ensure the proper governance and progress of these institutions, wishing them success in their new roles.
The appointments are expected to bring a fresh perspective to the administration of these institutions, enhancing educational standards across the state.
