The Plateau State Government has ordered intensified security operations following deadly attacks in Dorowa Babuje and Nding communities of Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area. The attacks reportedly led to the loss of innocent lives, throwing the affected communities into mourning.

The government described the incidents as shocking and deeply saddening, stressing that such acts of violence are unacceptable. It noted that the attacks came at a time when peacebuilding efforts, dialogue, and reconciliation initiatives had begun to improve stability across the state.

The state also confirmed a separate security incident that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, February 24, 2026, around the Terminus–Gadan Bako axis, which caused fear and tension among residents of the area.

In a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Samuel Jatau, the government strongly condemned the attacks, describing them as barbaric and senseless. The statement said Governor Caleb Mutfwang has directed security agencies to immediately step up operations in the affected communities.

According to the statement, security forces have been instructed to strengthen their presence in surrounding areas, prevent further attacks, and ensure that those responsible are arrested and brought to justice.

The Plateau State Government reassured residents of Barkin-Ladi and the entire state of its commitment to protecting lives and property. It urged citizens to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that can help restore peace.
