Rumors have been circulating about the possible defection of Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
These speculations grew stronger following Governor Mutfwang’s recent interactions with President Bola Tinubu and other APC figures.
Many saw his collaboration with federal leaders as a sign of political realignment ahead of future elections.
However, the governor has firmly denied these rumors in a recent interview.
“My association with President Tinubu is for the good of the Plateau people and should not be misconstrued as political realignment,” he stated.
Governor Mutfwang clarified that his dealings with the federal government are focused solely on development for Plateau State.
His Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, also addressed the matter in a statement to the public.
“These rumors are the handiwork of mischief-makers who want to sow confusion and distrust,” Bere said.
He reaffirmed that the governor remains committed to the PDP and has no plans of defecting.
“The governor is a loyal member of the PDP and has no intention of leaving the party,” Bere emphasized.
