The Plateau State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against crime with the recovery of 500 rounds of live ammunition during a raid in Jos North Local Government Area.
Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, disclosed this during a press briefing held at the Command Headquarters in Jos on Tuesday, May 7, 2025.
“On 04/05/2025 at about 09:40pm, based on credible intelligence, a criminal hideout along Bauchi Road in Jos North was raided, and an abandoned Ash colour Golf Wagon with registration number JJN 812 AH was recovered,” the CP announced.
According to him, a thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 500 rounds of 7.65mm ammunition suspected to be intended for criminal use.
The Commissioner revealed that the ammunition recovery was linked to an earlier incident of culpable homicide reported on May 3, 2025, where an unidentified person was killed.
“In the process of investigating that case, we made the breakthrough that led to this significant recovery,” Adesina said, adding that efforts are underway to apprehend those behind the crime.
He appealed to the residents of Plateau State to assist security operatives with relevant information that could help track down the perpetrators.
“The Plateau State Police Command remains resolute in its mission to protect lives and properties and maintain law and order in the state,” he assured.
CP Adesina reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful and safe environment for all citizens of the state.
