The Plateau State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has elected new executives to steer the affairs of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
At the congress held over the weekend in Jos, delegates from the 17 local government areas of the state participated in choosing a new leadership team.
Raymond Dabo emerged as the new state chairman after polling 2,162 votes, according to the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, David Umbugadu, who officially declared the results.
“By the power vested in me as the chairman of this Electoral Committee, I hereby declare Raymond Dabo duly elected as the chairman of the Plateau State chapter of the PDP, having scored 2,162 votes,” Umbugadu announced.
Gyang Tanko was elected as deputy chairman with 2,102 votes, while Michael Dachom and Felix Choji emerged as secretary and publicity secretary, respectively.
In his acceptance speech, Dabo promised to run a transparent, inclusive, and reconciliatory administration that will strengthen party unity and restore trust among members.
“Our administration will be transparent and inclusive. We will embark on reconciliation across all wards and local government areas to ensure a stronger and united PDP,” he stated.
The new chairman said his team would embark on a statewide reconciliation tour to engage party leaders and stakeholders in rebuilding confidence and expanding grassroots support.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who attended the congress, congratulated the new executives and urged them to work towards securing victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.
“You have been chosen to lead at a crucial time. Your focus should be on unity, peace, and preparations for the 2027 polls,” Governor Mutfwang advised.
He encouraged the new leadership to resolve lingering grievances within the party and to embrace all members in the spirit of brotherhood and progress.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) supervised the congress, and the newly elected executives were immediately sworn in following the announcement of results.
