The killing of Ardo Adamu Gabdo, the Fulani chieftain of Panyam District in the state’s Mangu Local Government Area (LGA), has been denounced by Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State.
The Fulani leader was killed by yet-to-be identified persons.
Mutfwang condemned the killing in a statement by his Director of Press and Public Affairs (DOPPA), Mr Gyang Bere, issued on Saturday in Jos.
At a recent meeting with Mangu stakeholders, Maj.-Gen. Abdusalam Abubakar, the commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), announced that three suspects had been detained in relation to the crime.
Although the governor expressed sympathy to the Ardo’s immediate family in the statement made public on Wednesday, he also pledged to work with security forces to find the perpetrators of the murder.
In order to achieve a crime-free Plateau, he asked traditional and community leaders at all levels to support the government and security forces.
”While we commend the efforts of OPSH for recovering the body of the murdered ardo, we want to appeal to all residents of our state to be law abiding.
”All criminal acts should be reported to security agencies for swift action.
”We are committed to upholding the rule of law in addressing all forms of criminal activities in the state,” the governor said.
In addition, Mutfwang pledged to treat every citizen equally and justly, irrespective of their religious or tribal affiliation.
