The Chairman of Shendam Local Government Council of Plateau State Hon. Dr. Nicholas Kemi Nshe has organized a peace reconciliation meeting between Muslims, Christians, and traditional worshippers in Shimankar, Shendam, during the Eid-El-Fitr celebration.
The Peace Meeting was i aimed to restore total peace to the community following recent crises.

Hon. Nshe took advantage of the Eid-El-Fitr celebration to organize a unity and reconciliation meeting, bringing together Muslims and Christians in the locality. Previously, he had also united the two warring factions during a breaking-of-fast event organized by the Local Government Council.
At the peace and reconciliation meeting held in Menka’at Village, Shimankar Shendam, The Council Chairman emphasized that the gathering was part of his administration’s commitment to fostering peace and harmony in the community.
He highlighted his dedication to bridging religious and cultural divides, stating that sharing a meal with the community reinforced their shared values.
Nshe added that the meeting he organized was focus to bringing together Muslims, Christians, and traditionalists as part of administration commitment to fostering peace and harmony in the community.
According to Nshe, said his presence at the Sallalh celebration is also part of his dedication to bridging religious and cultural divides together.
He added that sharing a meal with the community, has reinforced the shared values that bind the people of Menka’at together time memorial.
Nshe congratulated the Muslim community on their successful fasting period and debunked claims of religious skirmishes, citing the long-standing historical ties between the people of Shimankar.
He advised leaders to expose bad elements within their communities and thanked security agencies for their swift response.
The chief imam of Shendam Central Mosque, Sheikh Nuru Isah, praised Chairman Nshe’s initiative, stating it would strengthen unity among the people.
His Royal Highness Miskoom Maurice Manu Danjuma, the Long-Menkat, commended Chairman Nshe, security agencies, and community members for promoting peace.
The event featured goodwill messages from stakeholders, including the parish priest of the Catholic Diocese of Shendam, Rev. Fr. Joshua Daffa, and the representative of Kwamteng Menka’at.
The Council Chairman however donated assorted bags of rice to the imams for distribution to their members, and the meeting concluded with an exchange of pleasantries, indicating true forgiveness.
