The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Plateau State, Very Rev. Dr. Polycarp Lubo, has died.
According to sources within the association, he passed away in the early hours of Sunday, June 15, 2025.
His death was officially announced in a statement signed by Reverend Father Daniel Gyang, the Archdiocesan Chancellor, and made available to journalists in Jos.
“With deep sorrow but full submission to God’s will, we announce the passing of VERY REV. FR. DR. POLYCARP LUBO, who departed to eternal glory in the early hours of Sunday, 15th June 2025,” the statement reads.
The Archbishop expressed heartfelt condolences to Lubo’s immediate family and the Plateau State chapter of CAN.
Condolences were also extended to the Presbyterian of Jos, parishioners of St. William’s Parish Zawan, where he served as Parish Priest and Dean, and the entire religious and lay community of the Archdiocese.
Rev. Dr. Lubo was widely respected for his spiritual leadership and commitment to unity among Christians in Plateau State.
His death marks a significant loss to the Christian community and the state at large.
Prayers have continued to pour in from clergy and faithful across various denominations.
The Archdiocese prayed, “May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.”
