The Plateau State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held a crucial reconciliation meeting at the Nasarawa State Government House, seeking to mend internal divisions and strengthen party unity.
The gathering, chaired by Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, CON, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, saw broad participation from key party stakeholders.
The meeting focused on the comprehensive report presented by the Reconciliation Committee, led by Wase.
The committee had gathered input from over 200 influential individuals, groups, and interests within the party. Their findings, which highlighted various grievances and suggestions, were praised by the attendees for the depth of engagement and thorough analysis. “The acceptance of this report marks a significant step toward healing and cohesion within our party,” said Wase.
Prominent party figures such as Sen. Simon Lalong, Sen. Joshua Dariye, Sen. Nora Dadu’ut, Dame Pauline Tallen, and Prof. Sonni Tyoden endorsed the committee’s efforts, demonstrating a united front for the party.
After extensive deliberations, the stakeholders agreed to forgive past disputes and work collectively towards the party’s future. This consensus was seen as a critical move towards restoring the APC’s solidarity and strength in Plateau State.
The mandate of the Reconciliation Committee was extended to address unresolved issues and develop strategies for effective implementation of the reconciliation measures. The participants highlighted the need to recalibrate and re-strategize with a unified purpose to regain the party’s former stature.
Gratitude was expressed towards Engr. A. A. Sule, Governor of Nasarawa State and Chairman of the North Central Governors’ Forum, for hosting the meeting. Governor Sule’s keynote address, delivered by his Deputy, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, was acknowledged as an inspirational call to unity and progress.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to a cohesive and revitalized APC, aiming to steer the party back to its leading role in Plateau State’s political landscape.
