Plateau State University (PLASU), Bokkos, has announced plans to graduate a total of 2,577 students during its combined 8th and 9th Convocation Ceremonies scheduled to hold on February 14.

The university disclosed that 22 of the graduating students will receive First Class honours, marking a notable academic achievement for the institution.

The combined convocation will cover two academic sessions and will also include postgraduate students. It will be the first time PLASU is awarding postgraduate degrees, including Master’s degrees and Postgraduate Diplomas. The announcement was made during a media briefing held at the university campus.

Speaking ahead of the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of Plateau State University, Professor Shedrack Gaya Best, highlighted several achievements recorded by the university in recent years.

Professor Best also spoke on ongoing projects and new academic programmes across faculties such as Allied Sciences, Agriculture, Education, and Mass Communication, noting that the convocation reflects the steady growth of the university.

He explained that the new academic programmes are aimed at improving learning quality and meeting the manpower needs of the society.

The Vice Chancellor added that infrastructural development remains a priority for the university, with several projects currently ongoing to improve teaching, research, and student welfare.

Professor Best said the combined convocation is not only a celebration of academic success but also a reflection of PLASU’s commitment to excellence and innovation.

He assured parents, guardians, and stakeholders that the university will continue to raise standards and produce graduates who can contribute meaningfully to national development.

The Vice Chancellor invited the general public, parents, alumni, and friends of the university to attend the convocation ceremony.

He described the event as a historic moment in the life of the institution, especially with the graduation of its first set of postgraduate students.
