In a highly anticipated election held today, September 25, 2024, Pannan Dapar secured an overwhelming win to become the Chairman of the Plateau Youth Council (PYC) with a decisive 99 votes. The election, which drew significant attention from youth leaders across Plateau State, saw Dapar outpace his closest rivals, Walshak Kumwen, who garnered 6 votes, and Mapis Warewest with 5 votes. Other contenders, Dalong and Maren Aaron, managed just 1 and 0 votes respectively.

In other key positions, Monica N. Pam won the Deputy Chairman seat with 47 votes, defeating Josephine Gyang (39 votes) and Pam H. Dalyop (23 votes).

For the crucial role of Secretary General, the race was tightly contested, with Napoleon Nimyel emerging victorious by a single vote, securing 50 votes against Shepherd Majul’s 49.

In the Assistant Secretary General contest, Daniel Yilshak won with 63 votes over Longji Sunday, who garnered 37 votes. Meanwhile, Philshak Y. Luka claimed the position of Financial Secretary with a strong lead, winning 83 votes to Nandem Meshach’s 17.

Several candidates ran unopposed, including Adams Ayuba Dung as Treasurer, Longpon Emmanuel as Auditor, and Kwaptoe Paul as Director of Socials.

For the role of Public Relations Officer (PRO), Bahal Nanpial Mark dominated with 94 votes, leaving Lar Nanla Nehemiah (5 votes) and Zingfa Nimjul Sylvanus (3 votes) far behind.

The Zonal Coordinators election also produced noteworthy results. Edwin N. Gambo ran unopposed in the Southern Zone, while Jacob Sanda triumphed in the Central Zone with 10 votes, defeating Abel (4 votes) and Habila Micha (8 votes). Samson Yohana Shiroma was unopposed for the Northern Zone.

The 2024 PYC elections marked a significant moment for the youth of Plateau State, with new leadership poised to steer the council toward future progress and development.
