Architect Hart Bankat of the Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB) revealed that over 3,000 shops at the Rukuba Road Satellite Market are currently unoccupied.

Arc. Hart Bankat made this known while accessing the Satellite Market at Rukuba road in Jos North Local Government Area of the state.

During the assessment, Arc. Bankat disclosed that The market was designed to accommodate the growing commercial needs of the area which has faced challenges in attracting tenants since its completion.

According to Hart Bankat, that The state government has made alternative provision for road side traders following the Executive order 003. He said “for individuals who are trading on the streets. We have informed the traders that the old market in Terminus has been reopened for them to return to the market. We have also advised those in Gada Biu to return to the satellite market. For those in Farin Gada, we have told them the market is large enough, go back inside the market.

The underutilization of the market raises concerns about the efficacy of urban development planning in the area. Bankat emphasized the need for enhanced marketing strategies and potential incentives to attract vendors and businesses to the market.

“We have other satellite markets that are scattered all over the place that people abandon them and prefer to trade on the streets.”

Arc. Bankat has again issued an appeal to roadside traders who are violating the Plateau State government’s Executive Order 003 to quit the roadsides or face penalties.

Arch Bankat emphasised the importance of joint efforts among stakeholders in combating the scourge, noting that the initiative was not intended to witch-hunt anyone.

“The state Government is determined to bring Plateau back to its state of pride.”

  1. You can’t use mouth to ask them to move to the market.
You need to enact it by law, enforce it and make sure it is followed.
Secondly, you need to look at what kind of business suit that location, then you move them to the location.
The government needs to stand on top gear of this matter.
If u Feel big pharmacies stores owners can move there fine.
Household equipments, like you need to just know what business suit the location and the people
