Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), the military task force working to maintain peace in Plateau State, has foiled an attempted attack by bandits in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area.

The outfit revealed that troops neutralized three armed men who were heading to launch an attack on villages in the area.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by Major Samson Zhakom, the media officer of OPSH.

He said the operation took place in the early hours of May 27, 2025, following credible intelligence reports.

The bandits were reportedly on their way to attack Teng and Kayarda villages before troops engaged them in an ambush.

During the confrontation, three of the criminals were killed while others managed to escape.

Troops recovered four AK-47 rifles, four magazines, and 56 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition from the scene.

The recovered arms and ammunition are now in military custody, and search efforts are ongoing to capture the fleeing suspects.

OPSH described the operation as a major success and assured residents of its continued efforts to rid the area of criminal elements.
