The Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Professor Ayo Omotayo, has confirmed the arrest of some suspects linked to the recent attack on the institute.

Professor Omotayo disclosed this on Thursday while receiving the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the North Central Zone, Mohammed Bala Ishaq, who paid a security assessment visit to the institute following Tuesday’s attack by armed assailants.

The attack on the nation’s foremost policy and strategic institution claimed the lives of three persons and sparked concerns over security in the area.

Speaking during the visit, the NIPSS Director-General revealed that intelligence reports had indicated the possibility of an attack before the incident occurred, enabling security personnel to respond swiftly and prevent what could have been a more devastating outcome.

He noted that investigations are ongoing and assured that all individuals connected to the attack would be identified and brought to justice.

In his remarks, DIG Mohammed Bala Ishaq reassured members of staff and participants of the Senior Executive Course (SEC) 48, 2026, of the Police Force’s commitment to their safety. He stated that the Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with other security agencies, had strengthened security measures within and around the institute to prevent future incidents.

A representative of participants of the Senior Executive Course 48 described the attack as unfortunate and commended the prompt intervention of the police and other security agencies, which helped contain the situation.

The DIG’s visit forms part of ongoing efforts by security authorities to restore confidence and reinforce protection at the strategic institution.
