R&B star Ruby Gyang has returned to the music scene, sharing a deeply personal story of motherhood, emotional healing, and inner strength.
In an interview with LEADERSHIP Weekend, Ruby revealed that she took a deliberate break from music to focus on raising her daughter. “I stepped away from music to focus on my daughter. Being an artist meant I was always on the move, and she stayed with my family while I pursued my career. Eventually, I realised I needed to pause and be present for her,” she said.
According to Ruby, choosing family over fame was not an easy decision, but one she has no regrets about. “Taking that break was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It strengthened our bond, and I wouldn’t trade that for anything. Music will always be there, but family comes first.”
Now back in the limelight, Ruby has released new songs like Free and So Much More, which reflect the emotional journey she has been on. “My new songs were brewed out of things I faced and God brought me through, and I am stronger now emotionally. Betrayal and hurt from people I trusted inspired me deeply,” she shared.
Ruby said Free captures her process of letting go and finding peace. “The pain was heavy, but I realized holding onto it only harmed me. So, I chose to forgive and move on for my own peace,” she said. “I also learned that forgiveness doesn’t always mean reconciliation, and that’s okay. Not every relationship can be fixed, and life goes on.”
On So Much More, she opened up about her struggles with body image. “I faced criticism about my size and looks, and for a while, it shook my confidence,” Ruby admitted. “My struggles with body image played a role in inspiring me.”
The singer, who was part of the iconic Chocolate City crew during its peak, is now using her music as a platform to empower others, especially those dealing with similar emotional wounds.
Her return is not just about music, but about embracing her growth and sharing it with fans who may be walking the same path.
With new music and a renewed voice, Ruby Gyang is no longer just singing tunes — she’s sharing truth, grace, and strength through every note.
