The Nigerian College of Accountancy, Kwall, Jos, Plateau State, conferred a Fellowship Award on Senator Simon Mwadkwon PhD, former Senate Minority Leader, at its 11th Convocation Ceremony which held on Saturday 25th January 2025, in recognition of his profound impact on education and outstanding contributions to the college.
Dr. James Neminebor, President of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) and Chairman, Board of Governors, praised Senator Mwadkwon’s remarkable achievements as a scholar, educator, and humanitarian while presenting him with the Fellowship Award of the Nigerian College of Accountancy (FNCA). He noted that the Fellow Award recipients were carefully chosen for their exceptional contributions to education and the college.
The ANAN President stated that the College of Accountancy (NCA) will continue to provide training and equip highly skilled and ethical professionals for global utilisation.
Senator Simon Mwadkwon, represented by former Deputy Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Dantong, acknowledged the College’s recognition of him and others with the Fellowship Award. He indicated that the Award would serve as a catalyst for him to continue pursuing excellence in education and societal development. He applauded the Graduands for completing their rigorous training to become Professionals and advised them to adhere to the College’s core values of Professionalism, integrity, excellence, and innovation, while seeking to add value to the Accounting profession. He pledged to maintain his support for the College in fulfilling its primary objective of training and equipping professionals who will, in turn, contribute to the growth of the economy and the Nation.
Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, former Governor of Bayelsa State and Senator representing Bayelsa West, who was the Chairman of the Occasion and Guest Speaker at the Convocation Lecture on “The Impact of Government Policies on Economic Development in Nigeria: Challenges and Sustainability”, commended the College for sustaining its standard and graduating quality manpower that contributes to national and global development. He praised ANAN for its smooth leadership transition at the end of every tenure and urged other professional bodies to emulate its approach.
Others conferred with the Fellowship Award are His Excellency Senator Dr. Godswill Akpabio GCON the President of the Nigerian Senate, His Excellency Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, Rear Admiral OO Olukoya the Chief of Account and Budget Nigerian Navy, Hon. Ishaya Lalu PhD Member representing Mangum/Bokkos Federal Constituency, Alh. Usman Ahmed Auditor General Adamawa State and Hon. Daniel Asama Ago Member representing Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency.
The historic event’s key features include the Award of Professional Postgraduate Diplomas to the Graduands, presentation of Awards to outstanding Graduands, and a Convocation Lecture, which occurred on Friday, 24th January, 2025.
