The Plateau State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Ephraim Usman, has presented a temporary appointment letter of selection to Nde Jika Golit, having emerged as the Ngolong Ngas.

Usman, while presenting the letter of appointment to the Monarch at his office in Jos, reiterated the resolve of the Mutfwang-led administration to adhere strictly to due process in the selection of traditional rulers on the Plateau so as to honour and preserve the sanctity of royalty.

He added that Governor Mutfwang’s administration has all hands on deck, working tirelessly to foster unity among the people of Plateau State, regardless of tribe and religion.

While assuring the traditional ruler of full support from the government, Usman declared unequivocally that the state government did not interfere in the selection of the new Ngas Paramount ruler.

Speaking further, he said, “As a ministry, we align with the vision of this government to create an enabling environment for our people who are ready to select their traditional leaders without interfering with the will and choices of the people.

This is no doubt the beginning of a new era, and it is our sincere prayer that the Reign of Nde Golit will further foster development, peace, and unity in Ngas Nation and Plateau at large.

I implore our Ngas brethren to wholeheartedly lend his Royal Highness the support and cooperation required to propel the nation forward.”

In his response, the new Ngolong Ngas, Nde Jika Golit, stated that he sees his selection as the will of God and thanked the ministry and stake-holders for their efforts in achieving a successful selection process. He promised to distinguish himself, be an agent of unity and development, as well as rule with the fear of God.

Chief Usman also proceeded the same day to present the new Ngolong Ngas to the SSG, Arch. Samuel Jatau, at the new Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos.

Receiving the new Ngas Paramount ruler on behalf of Governor Mutfwang, who was unavoidably absent, Arch Samuel Jatau expressed joy that due process was followed in the selection of the first-class traditional ruler.

He congratulated the new Ngolong Ngas and beseeched him to carry everybody along in order to unite Ngas people.

Arch Jatau assured the new Ngolong Ngas that the state government will do everything humanly possible to make the new Ngolong Ngas reign memorable.

Recall that the new Ngolong Ngas Nde Jika Golit was selected by the Pankshin/Kanke Joint Traditional Council on Friday, October 13th, 2023, at Pankshin LGA.

Prior to his selection, he was the District Head of Garram in Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State.
