In a ceremony held at the INEC Nigeria Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, February 7th, the newly elected Senator representing Plateau North, Hon Pam Dangyang Mwadkon, and the newly elected member representing Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency, Daniel Asama, were presented with their Certificates of Return.
The event was marked by jubilation as Hon Pam Dangyang Mwadkon and Daniel Asama were accompanied by former Senator Prince Simon Mwadkwon and other leaders of the Alliance Democratic Party (ADP), as well as members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Plateau State.
In the recent rerun election in Plateau North held last Saturday, Hon Pam of the ADP secured victory by polling 122,442 votes, claiming the Plateau North Senatorial Seat. Simultaneously, Daniel Asama of the Labour Party emerged triumphant, securing the Bassa/Jos North House of Representatives Seat with the majority of votes.
The victory of Hon Pam Dangyang Mwadkon of the ADP marks a significant turning point in the political landscape of Plateau North, reshaping the region’s dynamics. The rerun election was organized following the exclusion of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) due to a court of appeal judgment, which also annulled the election of former Senator Simon Mwadkwon of the PDP.
Despite these legal intricacies, the support garnered by the ADP, notably from the PDP in the state, underscores the remarkable significance of this electoral triumph, highlighting a cooperative effort towards political change within Plateau State.
