The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) have reaffirmed their commitment to transforming the institute into a world-class centre for digital skills acquisition, research, innovation and policy development.
The commitment was reaffirmed at the inaugural meeting of DBI’s newly appointed interim governing board held at the institute’s headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking at the meeting, the President and Chief Executive Officer of DBI, David Daser, described the event as the beginning of a new phase in the institute’s transformation, aimed at positioning it as Nigeria’s leading institution for digital capacity development and a globally recognised centre of excellence.
“With the strategic guidance of the governing board and the continued support of the NCC, we are strengthening our resolve to build a world-class institution that will equip Nigerians with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities required to thrive in the rapidly evolving digital economy,” Daser said.
He noted that the inauguration of the interim governing board, chaired by Princess Oforitsenere Emiko, Managing Director of Kian Smith Trade & Co. Ltd., marks another milestone in repositioning DBI as Nigeria’s foremost institution for digital skills development, research, innovation and policy leadership.
Daser also expressed optimism about working closely with other board members, including Abraham Oshadami and Rimini Makama, to drive the institute’s transformation agenda.
According to him, the collaboration between the governing board, DBI management and the NCC will strengthen the institute’s capacity to deliver quality digital skills training and support Nigeria’s digital transformation objectives.
“The future is digital, and we remain committed to ensuring Nigeria is not just a participant but a leader in shaping it,” Daser added.
