The MNI Foundation has continued its drive to uplift rural education by extending humanitarian support to Foron District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The foundation distributed learning and writing materials to 17 primary schools across the district and paid school fees for pupils of Ekan Primary School, Zabot, where the presentation ceremony was held.

Funded by Arc. Chundusu Jonathan Simon, the gesture underscores the foundation’s commitment to improving access to quality education and supporting vulnerable learners.

This latest outreach follows the foundation’s earlier interventions in the community, which included rehabilitating boreholes and settling hospital bills for ailing residents.

In his welcome address, the Councillor of Zabot Ward in Foron District, Hon. Dung Rwang Tok, warmly welcomed the MNI (Mentor, Nature, Inspire) Foundation team for choosing Zabot as the venue for their humanitarian outreach. He expressed appreciation for their continuous efforts in supporting education and improving the lives of people in the community.

He also extended a warm welcome to his fellow councillors, community elders, head teachers, and pupils from various schools who attended the event despite the long distances. He commended their presence and cooperation, describing it as a sign of unity and commitment among the Foron people toward educational growth.

Delivering her keynote address, Maryam Nafit Imogie, the Program Manager of the MNI Foundation, said the primary goal of the initiative is to empower young learners through education. She noted that supporting children with educational materials helps build their confidence and prepares them to contribute meaningfully to society.

She also shared the mission of the MNI Foundation, which is to mentor, inspire, and nurture individuals in ways that foster personal growth, community development, and societal well-being. She stressed that the foundation aims to provide opportunities that help people, especially children, reach their full potential while promoting positive community values.

Beyond education, Imogie highlighted the foundation’s commitment to promoting peace and security within communities. She emphasized that ensuring a safe environment is a collective responsibility, encouraging pupils to remain vigilant and avoid unsafe behaviors.

Presenting the materials and paying school fees for pupils of Ekan Primary School, Arc. Chundusu Jonathan Simon said his decision was inspired by his childhood experience in the community. He recalled how his parents struggled to pay his school fees, a challenge that motivated him to support young learners facing similar difficulties.

He explained that the initiative, which started in his village school, expanded with support from stakeholders, enabling the distribution of thousands of learning materials across Foron. Moved by the children’s performance during the event, he decided to pay the school fees for all pupils of Ekan Primary School.

Beyond education, Arc. Chundusu highlighted other interventions such as borehole rehabilitation and payment of medical bills for residents. He also expressed his desire to extend future support to secondary schools and assist students with national examination fees, assuring that his efforts will continue gradually and sustainably.

The Head Teacher of Ekan Primary School, Zabot, Josephine C. Ndeng, praised Architect Chundusu for paying the school fees of 156 pupils and donating learning materials. She said the gesture has lifted a huge burden from parents and encouraged other well-meaning individuals to emulate his example.

During the program, Nenpanmwa Chundusu, wife of Arc. Chundusu Jonathan Simon, assured her full support for her husband’s humanitarian efforts and called on the community to pray for strength and provision to continue the good work.

Also speaking, Hon. Shut Emmanuel Luka, Councillor representing Kamang Nafok Ward, commended the initiative, describing it as a reflection of true leadership and mentorship. He said the gesture proves that individuals can make a lasting impact without waiting for government intervention.
