The Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Eradication, Hon. Dr. Bernard Doro, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for finding him worthy of appointment as Minister, pledging to deliver on his mandate.
Dr. Doro made this known while addressing newsmen in Jos, where he outlined his vision for a more transparent and effective humanitarian system across Nigeria.
In his words, “My mission would be to build an efficient, transparent and people-centred humanitarian ecosystem that restores dignity to displaced citizens and eliminates duplication across government agencies.”
He further stated, “I will work to create a humanitarian ecosystem that is efficient, transparent and centred on the person being cared for.”
The Minister also emphasized that his approach would focus on practical results that directly impact lives, noting that every intervention must translate into food on the table, roofs over heads, children in school, and livelihoods restored.
He added, “My vision for the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction is clear and yet straightforward: to make hope a reality for our people — especially the poor, the displaced, the vulnerable, and marginalised.”
Dr. Doro assured that his ministry would strengthen social protection systems, expand access to poverty alleviation programmes, and ensure humanitarian support reaches those who truly need it, not just where cameras go.
He concluded by saying Plateau State, with its diverse and resilient communities, will serve as a model for inclusive humanitarian action, where every displaced person is accounted for and every household receives meaningful support.
