On 9 May 2025, Manchester Global Foundation (MGF) hosted Hon. Dachung Bagos—Lawmaker of the Nigerian 9th Federal House of Representatives, philanthropist and anti-corruption advocate—and his delegation at its London office to explore a new global health partnership.

Hon. Bagos, whose foundation pioneered free breast and cervical cancer screenings for underserved women in Plateau State, Nigeria, opened the discussion by underscoring Nigeria’s urgent public health challenges and the critical role of the UN SDGs, after which MGF’s Dr. Deepali Sharma outlined the foundation’s mission and vision.

MGF CEO Dr. Rakhshi Memon and consultant Dr. Siham Sikander stressed the need to expand mental health services in Nigeria.

The meeting closed with clear next steps as outlined by Dr. Dung Jidong (Lead, Global Mental Health Theme, The University of Manchester, UK) to formalise a partnership between MGF and the Dachung Musa Bagos Foundation (https://lnkd.in/e47h4ctp) and co-design a scalable health intervention for Nigerian communities.
