The reason for postponing Burna Boy’s concert in South Africa has been officially stated in a statement by his management company, On A Spaceship management.

Following the official confirmation and announcement of the cancellation of Burna Boy’s performance scheduled for Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at FNB stadium in South Africa, On A Spaceship management (Burna Boy’s management group) has provided an explanation for the show’s postponement.

The management refuted reports that the concert’s postponement was due to poor ticket sales and instead said that production issues were to blame. The concert, which was supposed to take place on September 23, 2023, has now been postponed with no official date being confirmed.

The statement released stated, “Sadly, it is with great regret that we must inform you that despite my team’s effort, the show in Johannesburg on September 23rd will be cancelled due to the inability of the promoters to fulfil their contractual, financial, production, and technical obligations. Production vendors have still not been paid, and as such, it is evident at this point that the agreed production standard needed for this venue size can not be achieved. We hereby state that all ticketing companies must ensure that is refunded in full. Deepest apologies to all fans, looking forward to seeing you all soon.”

Burna Boy also addressed rumors that the performance would be canceled due to insufficient demand for tickets, saying they were baseless and that he will soon be performing for his South African fans.
