In a major development for air travel and economic progress in Plateau State, ValueJet has teamed up with the Plateau State Government to relaunch direct flights between Lagos and Jos, set to begin on April 2, 2025. This move signals a strong commitment to enhancing the state’s connectivity and driving tourism, trade, and agricultural development.
The new flights will initially operate three times a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays—but there are already plans in the works to extend the service to daily flights as demand grows.
ValueJet’s Managing Director, Omololu Majekodunmi, made this exciting announcement in Lagos after the airline signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Plateau State Government, represented by Jatau Gyang, the Commissioner for Transport. The agreement solidifies the partnership between both parties to get the much-anticipated flights off the ground.
Majekodunmi shared his enthusiasm about the initiative, saying, “We’re pleased to partner with the Plateau Government to restart direct flights from Lagos to Jos. This is part of our broader effort to expand flight routes and contribute to the state’s economic development.”
This reintroduction is directly aligned with the vision of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who has been working tirelessly to reinvigorate the state’s economy, particularly by harnessing the power of tourism and agriculture. With peace fully restored in Plateau, the governor’s administration sees this as the perfect time to attract investors and visitors, creating a pathway to sustained growth.
For Plateau State, the return of the Lagos-Jos flights represents more than just convenience for travelers. It’s a bold step toward opening up new economic possibilities, building stronger trade links, and cementing the state’s reputation as a thriving hub for tourism and business in Nigeria. The skies are about to open wider for Plateau, and the benefits will reach every corner of the state.
