As part of efforts to assure effectiveness and get rid of fraud in the local government finance system, Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has announced that the government will audit every member of the local council.
During a meeting with the Chairmen, Heads of Personnel, and Treasurers of the state’s 34 local government districts, the governor made the announcement about the manpower audit.
“We want to sterilise the local government system in our beloved state since we have received a number of unsettling reports about the payrolls of our local governments.
In a statement released on Thursday, the governor was reported as stating during the meeting, “A situation where some fraudulent persons collect more than their salary is worrisome, but we are determined to stop such evil practises.”
All local council employees must physically be present during the personnel audit, according to Mr. Radda, in order to identify real staff members among the 34 LGAs.
