The Jos Main Market Authority (JMMA) has announced that all markets within Jos metropolis will remain open on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Tuesday, February 25, 2026, by the General Manager of the Authority, Hon. Mangna Yusuf Wamyil.
According to the statement, the decision followed consultations with key stakeholders in the trading and local government sectors.
The Jos Main Market Authority (JMMA) wishes to inform all traders, shop owners, market women, transporters, and the general public that all markets within Jos metropolis will remain open on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
The General Manager explained that the resolution was reached after constructive engagements with leaders of the Plateau State Traders and Marketers Association and the Jos North Local Government Council.
“Following constructive engagements with leaders of the Plateau State Traders and Marketers Association and Jos North Local Government Council, it has been mutually resolved that traders should continue with their normal business activities without disruption.”
Hon. Wamyil further assured traders and residents that adequate security measures have been put in place to safeguard lives, property, and commercial activities across the city.
“Government has taken adequate and proactive measures to strengthen security across major markets and strategic locations within Jos metropolis.”
The Authority encouraged traders, customers, and transporters to conduct their lawful activities without fear, while remaining alert and cooperative with security agencies.
It emphasized that sustained peace and economic stability remain a shared responsibility among government, traders, and the general public.
The Jos Main Market Authority reaffirmed its commitment to creating a safe and enabling environment for commerce and assured stakeholders that it would continue to engage proactively to protect market interests across the Jos metropolis.
