In a bid to strengthen digital documentation and improve the management of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) cases, the Plateau State Immunization Plus & Malaria Progress by Accelerating Coverage and Transformation Services (IMPACT Project) has donated a brand-new HP Intel Core i5 laptop to the Plateau State Specialist Hospital, Jos. The gesture marks another step in advancing digital transformation within the state’s health sector.

The donation, jointly funded by the Plateau State Government and the International Development Association (IDA), underscores the project’s commitment to enhancing data-driven decision-making and ensuring efficient handling of GBV-related information across health facilities.

Speaking during the official presentation held in the office of the Chief Medical Director, the Project Manager, Nrs. Ndak Zuhumnan Andarawus, highlighted the importance of leveraging technology to strengthen record keeping and service delivery. He explained that accurate digital documentation is essential for effective coordination and response to GBV cases in the state.

“Digital records and proper documentation are vital to strengthening the health system and easing the workload of hospital staff,” Nrs. Ndak said. “This gesture is aimed at supporting operations and improving services to affected persons across Plateau State.”

Receiving the donation, the Chief Medical Director of the Plateau State Specialist Hospital, Professor Christopher Sabo Yilgwan, expressed gratitude to the IMPACT Project team and its partners for their thoughtful intervention. He noted that the laptop would enhance the hospital’s capacity for accurate data recording and timely reporting of GBV cases.

“We are grateful for this thoughtful gesture,” Prof. Yilgwan stated. “Please extend our appreciation to the partners as we look forward to more collaborations that will continue to improve service delivery in the hospital. I assure you that the laptop will be properly utilized to strengthen the hospital’s Sexual Assault Counselling Centre (SACC) and the GBV referral system.”

The event also featured the presence of the IMPACT Project Procurement Officer, Mr. Charles Puepet, who joined in the formal presentation of the device. The team reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the digitalization of healthcare services across Plateau State through continued partnerships and capacity-building initiatives.

The donation represents a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to modernize health information management and ensure that GBV survivors receive timely, coordinated, and professional care.
