The Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing public health in Nigeria, with plans to launch a new Center for Learning and Development aimed at transforming its short-term training programs into long-term initiatives. The center will partner with local and international universities to provide enhanced training for healthcare professionals.

It is contained in a press statement issued by Dr. Patrick Dakum, The Chief Executive Officer, that Since its inception in 2004, IHVN has tested and treated millions of Nigerians, initially focusing on diseases such as HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria. Over the years, the institute has expanded its work to address non-communicable diseases, while continuously building the capacity of healthcare professionals, particularly laboratory scientists.

The institute is currently home to two key centers: the Public Health Implementation Center and the International Research Center of Excellence. These centers play a vital role in implementing large-scale health interventions and conducting groundbreaking research.

IHVN emphasized its commitment to working with both Federal and State governments to strengthen Nigeria’s health system. The organization sees this collaboration as crucial in building a healthier future for Nigeria and the African continent at large.
