The Gbong Gwom Jos and Chairman, Plateau State Council of Chiefs and Emirs, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, has called on the people of Plateau State to embrace peace, warning that no society can grow without unity and cooperation.

Speaking at the Thanksgiving Service marking the second year in office of Governor Caleb Mutfwang and Deputy Josephine Piyo, held at Polo Field in Jos, the royal father emphasized the dangers of division and insecurity.

He stressed that political parties should not be the source of hatred and conflict among the people of the state, but rather vehicles for progress and development.

In a firm tone, the traditional ruler said:
“I have not seen any state that has progressed without peace. Where there is no peace, there will be no development. Peace will come when there is trust and forgiveness.”

The Gbong Gwom Jos also urged Plateau citizens not to take the current political leadership for granted, reminding them that divine providence brought them to power.

He expressed worry over the rise in hate and divisions based on politics, religion, and ethnicity, stating that such attitudes must be stopped immediately.

“Politics is supposed to be the process by which we produce leadership. Unfortunately, people take politics as a means of fighting themselves, and as a result, we destroy the very process by which we produce our leadership,” he warned.

According to him, all citizens, regardless of political affiliation, should support the government in place for the benefit of the entire state.

“We have a government in place. Let us support that government and move on because if we don’t, we are delaying our progress and development.”

The monarch appreciated the Governor’s approach to leadership, commending him for always acknowledging God’s role in his success and for committing the state into divine hands.

He reminded the congregation that good governance requires peace, support from the people, and sincere prayers for those in authority.

The message from the throne of the Gbong Gwom Jos was clear: peace, unity, and shared responsibility are the pillars of a progressive Plateau.
