In a landmark accomplishment, Hon. Dr. Ishaya David Lalu, the Member Representing Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, has earned a Ph.D. in Accounting and Finance from the University of Jos, marking him as the first person to receive this degree from the institution’s Faculty of Management Science. This notable achievement is not only a personal milestone for Hon. Lalu but also a significant moment for his constituency and the nation at large.

In an exclusive interview with Clusterchannel, Hon. Lalu expressed his excitement and joy, reflecting on the seven-year journey that began in 2017. “It wasn’t an easy journey,” he stated. “This journey has had a lot of loopholes and challenges. At a point, I felt like dropping the program because of the huge difficulties I faced with it.” He highlighted how the road to success was riddled with obstacles, including changes in supervisors, which added to the complexity of his academic pursuit. However, his determination to persevere ultimately led him to this remarkable achievement. “Anything worth doing is worth doing well,” he emphasized.

For Hon. Lalu, this Ph.D. is more than just a personal triumph; it is a symbol of dedication and resilience. He attributes his success to his strong faith and support from loved ones, dedicating this honor to his late parents, his wife, and the people of Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency. His gratitude also extends to his colleagues at the 10th National Assembly, where he continues to serve with distinction.

Hon. Lalu’s academic journey is deeply rooted in the field of accounting. He holds both a first degree and a master’s degree in accounting and finance, with a specialization in forensic accounting. His latest academic venture, the Ph.D., builds upon this foundation with a focus on procurement processes and their impact on procurement costs in Plateau State, Nigeria.

When asked about the relevance of his specialized knowledge to his constituency, Hon. Lalu explained that his research offers critical insights into the procurement process, particularly in the context of cost management.

As procurement is a vital aspect of public financial management, his expertise in this area could help shape more efficient and transparent procurement practices in Plateau State and beyond. This, in turn, would benefit the people of Mangu/Bokkos by ensuring that public resources are utilized more effectively and responsibly.

Hon. Dr. Ishaya David Lalu’s academic achievement is a source of pride for his constituency and a beacon of inspiration for others. His dedication to both public service and academic excellence sets a high standard for leadership, demonstrating that commitment to lifelong learning can have far-reaching benefits for both individuals and the communities they serve.
