The Executive Chairman of Shendam Local Government Council, Hon. Dr. Nicholas Kemi Nshe, reaffirmed his dedication to quality education and youth empowerment as he graced the matriculation ceremony of over 450 students at Oswald Waller College of Education, Shendam.

In a remarkable show of support, Hon. Dr. Nshe had earlier awarded full scholarships to 157 students of the college(70% of whom are Goemai indigenes and 20% non-indigenes) underscoring his commitment to inclusive education and community development.

The Rector of the institution lauded the Chairman’s scholarship initiative, describing it as a life-changing gesture that has significantly uplifted the academic standing and morale of the institution. Speaking on behalf of the proprietor, Most Rev. Dr. Philip Dung, Rev. Fr. Vincent Fazing extended appreciation to Hon. Dr. Nshe and the Chairmen of the six Southern Zone local governments for their continued sponsorship and support for students.

In his address, Hon. Dr. Nshe congratulated the newly matriculated students and urged them to remain focused and dedicated to their studies, emphasizing that “education is the best gift one can give to a child.”

Revealing further plans to boost educational access, the Chairman announced his intention to sponsor 1,000 additional students at the newly established Federal Polytechnic, Nyak-Shendam Campus.

In a further demonstration of commitment to educational development, Hon. Dr. Nshe, in collaboration with his Southern Zone counterparts, donated one truckload of cement (900 bags valued at over ₦8.5 million) to support infrastructure development at Oswald Waller College.

The Chairman’s sustained investment in education continues to position Shendam as a hub of academic excellence and youth advancement in Plateau State.
