A group known as the Plateau Heritage Defenders (PHD) has warned the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, to stop attacking Governor Caleb Mutfwang. The group said Nentawe’s comments could create problems for President Bola Tinubu as he prepares for the 2027 elections in Plateau State.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Golpwotong Danjuma, the group said it was unhappy with remarks Nentawe made while welcoming new members into the APC on Saturday in Jos.

Nentawe had claimed that APC is the only political party in Plateau State and boasted that the party has enough “power,” “firepower,” and “engine oil” to win the 2027 elections across all zones.

But PHD disagreed, saying such statements could turn the people against the APC in a state where Governor Mutfwang enjoys strong support. The group warned that careless comments could weaken Tinubu’s chances in future elections.

PHD reminded Nentawe that the 2023 elections are already over and that Mutfwang won fairly. They advised him to act with humility, appreciate his appointment as APC National Chairman, and work to unite people behind President Tinubu.

The group also said Governor Mutfwang has strong influence not only in Plateau State but across the entire North Central region. They noted that trying to downplay his popularity will only make him more loved by the people.

According to PHD, aligning with Mutfwang would help the APC secure the important Christian bloc, which is key to national elections. They also said that if Mutfwang ever joins the APC, he would automatically become the party leader in Plateau State.

The group urged all political leaders to focus on unity, development, and the welfare of residents instead of divisive politics.
