The Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, swore in new Special Advisers and inaugurated important Governing Councils and Committees on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025.

The event took place at the New Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos, and focused on improving governance, power reforms, and climate-friendly development.

The new bodies include the Plateau State Electricity Commission, Road Safety Advisory Council, Energy Corporation Board, and a Carbon Sequestration Committee for the Jatropha-to-Biofuel Project.

During the ceremony, Governor Mutfwang urged the appointees to serve with integrity, professionalism, and dedication.

“Today marks a significant milestone in our commitment to deepening governance,” the Governor said. “We have carefully selected individuals not merely on political grounds but on the basis of competence and capacity to deliver results.”

The Governor also reshuffled some appointments. He moved Hon. Habila Mutla from Plateau United FC to focus on grassroots soccer development across secondary schools.

Special Advisers sworn in include Hon. Theophilus Dakas Shan (National Party Affairs), Hon. Habila Mutla (Grassroots Soccer), Dr. Abong (Livestock and Veterinary Services), and Hon. Emmanuel Dung Solomon (Mines).

Governor Mutfwang asked Hon. Emmanuel Solomon to organize informal miners into structured groups to help them benefit from the mineral economy. “We must not allow our artisanal miners to be left behind,” he said.

On electricity, the Governor said Plateau must lead again in power generation. “Plateau built Nigeria’s first hydroelectric station. We must rise to the challenge of providing stable power,” he stated.

He also revealed that Plateau will now enter the global carbon credit market using Jatropha, a local plant, to promote clean energy. “We have a chance to benefit economically from global climate initiatives,” he added.

Ambassador Bagudu Hirse, now Chairman of the Electricity Commission, thanked the Governor on behalf of the appointees. “We are proud to serve under this reform-oriented administration,” he said.
