Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, Immediate Past Governor and Senator representing Plateau South Simon Lalong, and Former Governor Joshua Dariye were among the prominent figures that attended the Thanksgiving Service for Hon. Daniel Asama, the newly elected member representing Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency. The event took place at ECWA Gospel 1, Federal Secretariat, Jos.
Hon. Daniel Asama, in his remarks, expressed deep gratitude to God and his supporters for their confidence and assistance. He assured his constituents of his commitment to serve them diligently and to the best of his ability.
Governor Mutfwang, speaking at the service, emphasized the importance of gratitude and aligning with divine principles. “We are committed to identifying and empowering the youth who represent the future of Plateau State. Through proper training and support, we aim to nurture a capable generation of leaders,” he stated. The Governor also commended Hon. Asama and Sen. Pam Dung Gyang on their election, noting that their victories represented a unifying platform beyond political affiliations.
Governor Mutfwang called for unity among National Assembly members from Plateau State, urging them to focus on significant projects like the dualization of the Akwanga to Jos road, which is critical for security and economic development. He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to transformative governance, economic participation, and improved living standards across the state.
Senator Simon Lalong warned against the rising trend of political bitterness and division in Plateau State, urging for healthy competition that benefits the citizens. He cited recent misinformation campaigns against him regarding a Senate debate on ranching, labeling such actions as harmful and divisive. Lalong congratulated Hon. Asama and encouraged him to make a positive impact both within his constituency and nationwide.
Former Governor Joshua Dariye also congratulated Hon. Asama, advising him to maintain close contact with his constituents. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, represented by Hon. Ishaya Lalu, praised Asama as a resourceful legislator who has already contributed significantly to lawmaking in the House.
The ECWA General Secretary, Rev. Ayuba Asheshe, delivered a sermon from 1 Samuel 1, emphasizing that leadership is a divine act of service rather than personal gain.
The service, marked by a strong message of unity and service, also included other dignitaries like Senator Pam Dung Gyang and representatives of various constituencies, all joining in to celebrate and support Hon. Daniel Asama.
