Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang and his Deputy, Ngo Josephine Piyo, have received strong backing from a coalition of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) groups in Chugwi Ward, Jos South Local Government Area, who endorsed them for a second term in office.

The endorsement was made on Sunday, September 7, 2025, during a gathering at LEA Primary School, Darangi-Chugwi, where elders, youths, and women of the ward expressed their confidence in the governor’s leadership.

The groups said the decision was based on the governor’s record of achievements in just two years, especially the transformation of rural communities across Plateau State.

“It is with profound joy and gratitude to Almighty God that I warmly welcome you all to this historic gathering. On behalf of the coalition of PDP groups, elders, women, and youths of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Chugwi Ward, Vwang District of Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau State, we are gathered here today to reaffirm our solidarity and express our heartfelt appreciation to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang our People’s Governor for the remarkable transformation his administration has brought to rural communities across Plateau within just two years in office,” the statement read.

The coalition described Mutfwang as a people-centered leader who has governed with transparency, accountability, inclusiveness, and service to humanity.

“In these two years, His Excellency has matched words with action, translating campaign promises into tangible achievements that cut across every sector of our economy,” the groups added.

According to them, residents of Chugwi Ward have directly benefited from policies in transportation, healthcare, infrastructure, and education. The introduction of Metro Buses, the renovation of rural clinics, and ongoing road projects in Vwang District were cited as examples.

“Healthcare: Clinics in rural communities, including those in Chugwi, have been renovated, while the Plateau Specialist Hospital has been transformed into a top-tier medical facility. Through PLASCHEMA, women, children, and the elderly now have access to affordable healthcare,” the statement noted.

The community also commended the governor for appointing their sons and daughters into key positions. They highlighted the elevation of Dr. Gyang Bere to Director of Press and Public Affairs and the service of Hon. Peter Vwang Dung as Transition Committee Chairman of Jos South LGA.

Other projects such as the electrification of Dandyes and Hwon, completion of the Chugwi Community Hall, and empowerment initiatives for youths and women were described as life-changing for the people.

They also pointed to the Vwang District Unity Football Tournament and the installation of a new electric transformer at Dalyoho as initiatives that foster peace and development in the ward.

“In the light of these visible and verifiable achievements in restoring trust, peace, unity, and development across Plateau State, it is both a privilege and an honour for me, Bitrus Dido, on behalf of the good people of Chugwi Ward, to formally move a motion for the endorsement of His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, and his capable Deputy, Her Excellency, Ngo Josephine Piyo, for a second term in office in the forthcoming 2027 Governorship Election,” the coalition declared.

The motion was unanimously supported, sealing Chugwi Ward’s endorsement of Mutfwang and Piyo ahead of the 2027 governorship race.
