Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has visited the family of the late Lt. General Jeremiah Timbut Useni, mni, at his Abuja residence to offer condolences following the elder statesman’s death after a prolonged illness.

During the visit, Governor Mutfwang, warmly received by Senator Napoleon Bali, the son-in-law of the late General Useni, alongside family members and Tarok Elders, described the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as a beacon of hope and an exemplary leader who dedicated his life to serving God and humanity.

Highlighting General Useni’s significant contributions to both Plateau State and the nation, Governor Mutfwang praised the late elder statesman as a distinguished military officer and politician who brought pride to Plateau State through his exemplary leadership and service.

“General Useni was a refined and accomplished leader whose life epitomized service, discipline, and compassion. Plateau people are proud to identify with him as a towering figure who brought honor to the state,” the Governor remarked.

He emphasized the need for unity among stakeholders to ensure a befitting burial for the elder statesman, acknowledging the profound impact of his life and legacy on the state and the nation.

Governor Mutfwang further shared personal memories of General Useni, noting his regular visits to check on the late General’s health and praying together during those moments. He expressed deep sorrow over his passing, recalling the General’s past roles as Governor of Old Bendel State, Minister of Transportation, Minister of FCT, and Senator representing Plateau South.

In response, Senator Napoleon Bali, on behalf of the family, expressed gratitude to Governor Mutfwang for the visit, which he said had brought comfort to the family during their time of grief. Prof. Doknan Sheni, speaking on behalf of the Tarok Elders, also thanked the Governor for his swift support and assured him of their commitment to ensuring a dignified burial for the late General.
