Barr. Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, has reinstated 3879 suspended civil servants who were employed under his predecessor, Senator Simon Lalong.
This was said in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of Plateau State, Arch Samuel Nanchang Jatau, and published on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.
According to the announcement, 3,879 government officials were reinstated from 42 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies whose employment was overseen by the State government Service Commission and the Office of the Head of Civil Service.
This puts an end to months of debate about the qualifications of individuals hired and the legitimacy of the hiring process. The government had declared the suspension of all employment in June 2023 awaiting an investigation and recommendation by a special committee established to look into the matter in accordance with civil service norms.
The statement, however, supported the cancellation of employments made by Tertiary Institutions during the previous government and directed the prompt initiation of processes for new employment in the affected institutions.
