The Director General of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), Major General Aniedi Effiong Edet has assured the Nigerian Army of the readiness of the Corporation to manufacture military hardwares that would support their defence needs across the Nation.
Maj. Gen. Edet made these known during a courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding 3 Division Jos Plateau State, Maj. Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar on Tuesday 13th February, 2024.
He said DICON is doing its best to produce what would support the operations of the Military across the Nation as well as meet their defense needs.
According to him, the moribond corporation has been reactivated, fully operational and now manufacturing wide range of Weapons to meet the Defence material requirements of the Military.
He further stated that the Corporation is ready to partner with Organizations that would help in achieving its overall mandate which is the effective production of defense equipment.
He appreciated the efforts of the General Officer Commanding 3 Division to restore peace in the Joint Operation Area.
He commended President Bola Tinubu for signing into law the Bill creating the Corporation in 2023.
The General Officer Commanding 3 Division, Major General Abdulsalami Abubakar who was flanked by other Senior Officers of the Division appreciated the visit and said it connotes determination of the focus and visionary leadership of the Director General despite the huge demands of his office.
He applauded the Director General for working to enhance productivity through the provision of quality service.
He said the Military industrial complex will provide the needed military hardwares.
He urged the research and development unit of the Corporation to turnaround potentials of persons producing weapons illegally by engaging them and utilizing their innovative talents for the common good of the Nation.
In his response, the DG DICON said the corporation will absorb those with potentials technically through the required legal framework, take them from the wrong part of the society to the right part for them to add value to the Corporation and Nation at large.
