The city of Jos, Plateau State, was electrified as the Mister and Miss Tourism Africa International pageant commenced in grand style at the Usiju World Event Center. Under the unifying theme “Africa Unites in Jos,” the event became a magnificent showcase of beauty, fashion, and rich cultural heritage, all converging under one roof.

Models and representatives from across the continent, including Botswana, Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, among other countries, gathered in Jos to celebrate a shared African identity through creativity and culture. This opening ceremony marked the beginning of a vibrant week dedicated to pageantry, setting a colorful tone for the days to follow.
On the runway, models gracefully represented their respective nations with elegance and style. The stage came alive with a series of fashion displays, each performance drawing enthusiastic cheers and applause from the excited audience at the venue.

Hon. Chuwang Pwajok, the General Manager of Plateau Tourism Corporation, officially welcomed the guests and described the event as a defining moment in Plateau’s tourism journey. He emphasized that hosting such a prestigious continental event demonstrates the state’s readiness to establish itself as a leading destination for peace and hospitality in Africa.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, Pwajok extended his gratitude to all the delegates for choosing Jos as their host. He warmly urged them to immerse themselves in the renowned warmth of the Plateau people and to become ambassadors who would tell the world that the state is open for tourism and investment.

The Commissioner for Tourism, Culture and Hospitality, Hon. Cornelius Doeyok, also expressed immense pride in the state’s role as host. He stated that the pageant perfectly aligns with the government’s broader goal of promoting the “Jos story” and actively changing the narrative about Plateau through the powerful channels of tourism and culture.
Commissioner Doeyok went on to thank the event organizers and visitors for bringing this international spotlight to Plateau. He assured all participants that they were in for a series of exciting activities and memorable experiences in the state, which is proudly known as the “Home of Peace and Tourism.”

One of the event organizers, Sammy took a moment to personally commend the exceptional hospitality of the local community. He shared an anecdote about a local designer, Ms. Christabel, who gifted him a traditional fabric called “Godo.” So impressed by the beauty and kindness, he promised to return to Plateau not for work, but purely to enjoy its peaceful atmosphere once more.
