Shortly after concluding its maiden leadership retreat in Miango, the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Plateau State Chapter, distributed relief materials to victims of recent attacks in Teegbe community, Miango, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The association donated bags of rice and fertilizer to affected families to cushion the hardship occasioned by the attacks, reaffirming its commitment to supporting vulnerable communities.

Presenting the items, the Plateau State Chairman of CAN, Rev. Dr. Dunka Gomwalk, said the gesture was to reassure victims that the Church stood with them in their time of need.
“We have come to identify with you and to let you know that the Church has not forgotten your plight. We are here to share your burden and encourage you not to lose hope,” he said.
Gomwalk said the association deliberately visited the community immediately after its leadership retreat to demonstrate that the Church’s mission goes beyond preaching.
“Our mission is not only to preach from the pulpit, but also to serve society, defend the vulnerable and give hope to the discouraged,” he said.
The cleric also called on government to prioritize the resettlement of displaced persons, insisting that victims deserved to return to their homes in safety and dignity.
“Those displaced by these attacks deserve to return to their ancestral homes in safety and dignity. Government should recover the occupied lands, rebuild the affected communities and ensure their safe resettlement,” Gomwalk added.

Receiving the items on behalf of the victims, the Coordinator of the Emergency Relief Intervention Team, Mr. Gastor Barrie, thanked the Plateau State chapter of CAN for the timely intervention.
Barrie said the donation of rice and fertilizer came at a critical time when many affected families were struggling to rebuild their lives after the attacks.
“We want to thank you for the rice and the fertilizer, which are really needed at this point in time. God bless you all. We sincerely appreciate this gesture,” he said.
