The Berom Women Development Association (BEWDA), Gyel District, has successfully conducted its district elections, producing a new set of executives to pilot the affairs of the association. The election, described as peaceful and transparent, brought together women leaders and members of the district in a show of unity and democratic participation.
At the end of the process, Mary Peter emerged as the new Chairperson, while Jummai Monday was elected Deputy Chairperson. In other key positions, Sarah Kandi was returned as Secretary, with Helen Joshua chosen as Assistant Secretary.
The post of Treasurer went to Regina Gyang Sambo, while Simi Stephen was elected as Financial Secretary. The information arm of the district was strengthened with the election of three Public Relations Officers: Eunice Botrus (PRO I), Ruth Jonathan (PRO II), and Paulina Dauda Kangyang (PRO III).
The outcome was welcomed by members of the association, who expressed optimism that the new team will continue to uphold BEWDA’s values of service, empowerment, and unity.
Observers at the exercise commended the orderly conduct of the election and praised the women for demonstrating maturity, tolerance, and commitment to their common cause.
The new executives will now be saddled with the responsibility of advancing women’s development initiatives in Gyel District, while also contributing to the larger goals of BEWDA across Beromland.
The election further reinforces BEWDA’s position as a democratic and community-rooted organization, committed to the welfare of women, children, and the entire Berom nation.
