The All Progressives Congress (APC) Renewed Hope Vanguard in Plateau State has expressed strong disapproval over the recent decision reached during the party stakeholders’ meeting held on October 17, 2025, at Crest Hotel, Jos.
Hon. Seth Ayuba, a founding member of the APC from Bokkos Local Government Area, voiced the group’s position, stressing that the outcome of the meeting does not reflect the collective interest of genuine party loyalists.
Ayuba noted that members of the Renewed Hope Vanguard are young, dedicated APC faithful who have worked tirelessly to build and sustain the party across the state.
He recalled that despite the disappointment experienced in the 2023 elections, the group is determined to reconcile differences, strengthen internal unity, and return stronger ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the Renewed Hope Vanguard has been working to mend cracks within the APC and ensure the party remains focused and united under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Ayuba described the October 17 meeting with the National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwada, as the largest stakeholders’ gathering since the 2023 elections, with several influential party figures in attendance.
However, he expressed shock over a motion reportedly moved by Hon. Festus Fuanter, the former National Deputy Secretary, which sought to reject the defection of Governor Caleb Mutfwang into the APC.
He condemned the motion, calling it unnecessary and unwise, especially in the presence of the National Chairman, who had earlier welcomed defectors from other parts of the country, including a governor from the Southeast.
“We were shocked that the same National Party Chairman who joyfully received a governor from the Southeast would sit and allow an attempt to block the defection of his own state governor,” Ayuba said.
He cautioned Prof. Nentawe Yilwada to be wary of undemocratic elements attempting to create division within the Plateau APC, particularly pointing at Hon. Fuanter’s actions during the meeting.
The Renewed Hope Vanguard, according to Ayuba, stands firmly by the ideals of inclusivity and open-door politics as championed by President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He further called on Governor Caleb Mutfwang to feel free to defect to the APC whenever he wishes, assuring that the Renewed Hope Vanguard is fully prepared to welcome him and any other individual interested in joining the party.
