The Plateau State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called for a stronger working relationship with bloggers as the state prepares for the upcoming electioneering process.

The State Publicity Secretary, Wumanna Bako Manabe, made the appeal during an interactive session with members of the Plateau Bloggers and Online Media, stressing the importance of collaboration.

He explained that while the party respects the independence of bloggers, a strategic partnership is necessary to ensure accurate and balanced dissemination of information across the state.

“As election activities intensify, your role becomes even more critical in shaping public understanding and ensuring that the right information gets to the people,” he said.

Manabe emphasized responsible reporting, particularly on sensitive issues such as security, warning that unverified reports could have far-reaching consequences.

“You must always verify your information before publication. What you write, especially on security matters, can have serious implications,” he cautioned.

He also advocated for issue-based reporting, urging media practitioners to avoid personal attacks and instead focus on policies and governance.

Manabe assured the bloggers of inclusiveness, noting that the party would ensure fair access to information while maintaining open channels of communication. “We are ready to engage and provide timely information to ensure that the public is well informed,” he added.

Responding on behalf of the bloggers, the Public Relations Officer, Peter Apka, appreciated the APC leadership for the gesture and described it as a step in the right direction.

“This kind of opportunity and gesture, we do not take it for granted. We are all partners in progress, and bringing us on board will go a long way,” he said.

Apka noted that bloggers and online publishers remain key stakeholders in the information ecosystem, contributing significantly to news dissemination and public awareness.

He further commended the party for identifying a working team and expressed confidence that the collaboration would deliver results. “I want to assure you, you will not be disappointed. We are committed to ensuring that this partnership yields the desired result,” he stated.

He concluded by reaffirming the commitment of the blogging community to professionalism, pledging continued support for credible reporting and the promotion of good governance in Plateau State.
