As political tides continue to shift in Plateau State, Senator (Prince) Pam Mwadkwon Dachungyang, representing Plateau North Senatorial District, has stirred fresh speculation with his recent statement calling for unity and political maturity among leaders and supporters across party lines.

In a message titled “In the Face of Defections, Alignments and Realignment of Forces, We are Greater Together,” the Senate Committee Chairman on Tourism reflected on the current wave of political movements, describing them as natural elements of democracy.

“For a few days now, friends, family members, constituents, and party faithfuls have reached out to me on where I stand, particularly in the face of the seeming cloudiness of the prevailing political climate in Plateau State,” he stated.

Senator Dachungyang acknowledged the ongoing defections and realignments but urged that such developments should not divide Plateau’s political elites or fuel discord among supporters. Instead, he emphasized the need for restraint and responsible conduct, both online and offline.

While commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for their leadership, Dachungyang’s open praise for both the APC-led Federal Government and the PDP-led Plateau State Government has raised questions about his political direction.

“I am happy with the excellent leadership of the President, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, and His Excellency, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, in the state and the country,” he said, describing their governance as a blessing to Plateau people.

The senator, who is currently the only federal lawmaker from Plateau State elected on the platform of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), reaffirmed his commitment to delivering democratic dividends to his constituents, regardless of party differences.

“As the only Federal Legislator from Plateau State in a different political party at the National Assembly presently, I am completely preoccupied with delivering democratic dividends to my dear people of Plateau North Senatorial District,” he stated.

He further called for collective support for Governor Mutfwang’s administration, insisting that unity and cooperation are vital for the state’s development.

“Though of the ADP stock, it is my honest conviction that His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, is delivering on his covenant with the Plateau people and I call on all and sundry to support him, irrespective of political, ethnic and ideology divide,” he said.

Senator Dachungyang concluded his message with a note of optimism, affirming that a greater and more prosperous Plateau is achievable through collective effort.

“A Greater Plateau is sure, and the time to make it possible is now,” he declared.

His remarks have since sparked conversations among political observers and constituents alike, leaving many to wonder — is Senator Dachungyang subtly rethinking his political future amid the unfolding realignments in Plateau politics?
