We, over 300 participants from across Africa, 200 onsite and 100 virtual, gathered from 11th to 15th August 2025 for the Africa Expository Bible Preaching Summit. With one heart and voice, we reaffirm our commitment to Preach Christ, the Bible’s Main Character and to declare these resolutions to the Church, believers, and the watching world.
- Commendation of Faithful Preachers
We commend preachers across Africa who, despite challenges and pressures, have remained steadfast in proclaiming Christ. Your unwavering devotion to Scripture inspires the Body of Christ to stand firm in an age of compromise. We urge you to press on, knowing that your labor in the Lord is not and will never be in vain. - Call to Steadfast Faithfulness
In an era when the Gospel is often diluted to fit cultural preferences, we call on all preachers to remain faithful to the unchanging truth of God’s Word. Faithfulness demands courage, perseverance, and an uncompromising loyalty to Christ, regardless of opposition or popular trends. - Advocacy for Effective Expository Preaching
We call on pastors, teachers, and evangelists to embrace and practice expository preaching that draws meaning from the biblical text and points to Christ. The life of Joseph and Esther in the Political arena as cases in point This form of preaching nourishes the Church, equips believers, and resists the drift toward entertainment-driven sermons, which have resulted in ineffective Christian lives. - Renewed Commitment to Biblical Integrity
We affirm that the Bible is God’s infallible Word and must be handled with deep study, reverence and integrity. Preachers are urged to resist the temptation to manipulate Scripture for personal gain or applause, but rather to proclaim it faithfully and truthfully as God intended. - End to Pulpit Abuse
We reject the misuse of the pulpit for political ends, personal enrichment, or self-promotion. Such practices distort the Gospel and damage the witness of the Church, especially in nations fragmented. The pulpit must remain a sacred space for proclaiming Christ crucified, risen and exalted. - Condemnation of False Teachings
We condemn all forms of false teaching that mislead God’s people, especially messages that prioritize materialism over godliness. Sound doctrine must prevail over sensationalism, and believers must be equipped to discern truth from deception. - Getting Women Involved in Leadership and Preaching
We affirm the biblical place of women in ministry and call for their inclusion in leadership and expository preaching training. Their God-given abilities and perspectives enrich the Church’s witness and strengthen the mission of Christ in all spheres. - Promotion of Sound Doctrine
We urge church leaders to prioritize teaching that is rooted in Scripture and centered on Christ. Sound doctrine produces mature disciples who can stand firm in the face of cultural and spiritual challenges, and it must be preserved at all costs. - Christ in the Public Space
We call on believers in professions, governance, media, education, and business to boldly represent Christ in the public sphere. The Gospel must shape not only our churches but also our society, influencing policies, culture, and values toward righteousness. We should commit to Intentional equipping and deploying them into the public space with purpose. - Active Engagement in Societal Issues
In the face of rising insecurity, economic hardship, and social injustice in Nigeria and across Africa, we call on the Church to actively advocate for peace, justice, and compassion. We must not be silent when lives are destroyed by terrorism, corruption, and oppression and promote reconciliation. - Collaborations for Preaching God’s Word
We call for greater partnerships between churches, ministries, and seminaries to advance biblical preaching. Collaboration multiplies impact, strengthens the Body, and demonstrates unity in Christ’s mission. - Participation in Governance
We encourage Christians to participate actively and ethically in governance, bringing biblical values into policy-making and public service. We need leaders who fear God, love righteousness, and serve with integrity. - Standards for Biblical Teaching
We affirm the need for consistent, Spirit-led training that equips preachers to handle the Word accurately. Churches must set high standards for those who teach, ensuring that preaching reflects both biblical accuracy and Christ-centered focus. - Mentoring the Next Generation
We commit to intentionally raising young preachers and leaders who will carry the torch of biblical preaching into future generations. Mentorship is therefore a sacred responsibility that ensures continuity and spiritual vitality in the Church. - Acknowledgment of Women Preachers
We honor women who faithfully proclaim the Gospel in pulpits, classrooms, and communities. Their labor in the Word and service to the Body of Christ are vital to the health and mission of the Church. - Seminary Involvement
We urge seminaries across Africa to mainstream expository preaching in their curricula. This will prepare future ministers to preach Christ faithfully and to shepherd churches that are grounded in Scripture.
Conclusion
We issue this communiqué as both a call and a commitment: a call to the Church to Preach Christ, the Bible’s Main Character, and a commitment to live out the Gospel in word and deed. Modelling Christ-like leadership must start with the preacher and from the pulpit May this generation rise with courage, clarity, and compassion to proclaim Christ until He returns.
