The Plateau State chapter of the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called on former Governor, Senator Simon Bako Lalong to account for the over N2.1bn spent on demolishing the Jos main market during his administration.

The PDP which the challenge in a statement issued on Wednesday by it Publicity Secretary, Jonathan Amande, alluded to Lalong’s recent address to traders at the burnt Terminus Market in the Jos North Local Government Area where he said the present government should be held responsible for the disaster.

Describing Lalong’s between 2015 and 2023 administration as “clueless” and marked by “wastage, mismanagement of public resources, lack of capacity to work with constructive advisers, and zero innovation,” the PDP said he should tell the people of Plateau what he did with the huge amount of money.

“The Peoples Democratic Party, Plateau State chapter, is surprised at the comic public display by the former captain of the failed APC administration in Plateau State, Rt Hon Simon Bako Lalong, while addressing traders at the recently burnt Terminus Market and the resolve of the people’s Governor, His Excellency Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, to rebuild the market in a strategic location at Mararaban Jama’a,” the statement read.

“The PDP deems it fit to school the failed captain of the rescue team, who could not bury his head in shame for the setback his clueless administration, marked by wastage, mismanagement of public resources, lack of capacity to work with constructive advisers, and zero innovation, has brought untold consequences on the Plateau people.”
