The Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina has held a strategic security meeting with Council Chairmen of some local government areas of the State at the Command Headquarters, in Jos, the state capital.
The meeting was convened as part of the Commissioner’s proactive and strategic efforts at ensuring a peaceful atmosphere for the forthcoming Christmas and New Year celebration throughout the State, especially in the following Local Government Areas; Bassa, Barkin Ladi, Riyom, Bokkos and Mangu respectively.
The Commissioner of Police announced during the meeting that he has put in place effective security arrangements and made all necessary deployments to all the 17 local government areas in the state to ensure that there is no threats to the peace currently being enjoyed in the State.
He said after due consultation with his Management Team and critical stakeholders within the State, the Plateau State Commissioner of Police during a stakeholders meeting placed restrictions on the following activities from 23rd December 2024 to 3rd January, 2025 in Bassa, Barkin Ladi, Riyom, Bokkos, and Mangu Local Government Areas of the state.-
Similarly, he announced that night Grazing by herders, Night Farming by Farmers ,Late night Operation of Beer Parlours and Night mining activities. Others resolutions reached were Operation of Commercial motorcycles (Okada) that was banned.
He added that all these restrictions are to be in force between the hours of 06:00pm to 06:00am daily.
The CP also wished to announce to the general public that there will be a ban on the activities of commercial Tricycles also known as “Keke Napep” within the Jos Bukuru Metropolis on 25th to 26th December, 2024 and on the 1st of January, 2025.
He also reiterated that the total ban on the activities of commercial motorcycles still remains in force.
According to him, the Command has made massive deployments to major flashpoints within the State, and is also working in synergy with the Military, other Security Agencies within the State, stressing that members of the security should help groups to ensure that the security of our State and Borders is guaranteed throughout this festive period.
The CP called on the good people of Plateau State to cooperate with the Police and other Security Agencies in ensuring that these restrictions are obeyed, for the good of all.
The Command he said regrets any inconveniences that these restrictions may cause on any person or group of persons.
“We want you to note that all of our policies are for the peace and security of all Plateau residents, and not meant to intimidate or inconvenience anyone.”
