Renowned Nigerian rapper M.I Abaga has issued a challenge to young rappers, urging them to use their lyrical prowess to defend the right to freedom of speech.
The #DontPoliceMySpeech challenge invites participants to download a specially crafted beat, create a verse, and share it on social media using the designated hashtag. The top two entries will receive cash prizes.
M.I Abaga initiated this challenge in response to the increasing reports of attacks on free speech, a fundamental human right. “If we don’t speak up and protect our rights, they risk being eroded beyond recognition,” M.I stated, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
Participants are encouraged to upload their verses and tag M.I Abaga, Gatefield Impact, and other associated accounts to ensure their submissions are seen.
This challenge not only offers a platform for young talent but also serves as a rallying cry against the growing threats to free expression.
